Col. Malinda M. Beggs '86

After graduating from NC in 1986, Malinda attended the University of Washington. After earning her Bachelors of Arts degree in 1990, she was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force through the ROTC program.
In 1995, then Captain Beggs transferred to the Air Force Reserve, where she served as the Maintenance Group Executive Officer and later as Commander of the Communications Flight at Portland International Airport. In 2006, she transitioned into the Oregon National Guard as Wing Executive Officer of the 142nd Fighter Wing. In 2009, she transferred into the Washington National Guard, where she led the 194th Mission Support Group at Camp Murray.
Having steadily advanced through the ranks, Malinda was promoted to her current rank of Colonel in August 2010. Three years later she was assigned to the Air National Guard Readiness Center in Arlington, Virginia, as the Senior Official Inquiry Officer in the Inspector General’s Office. In 2016 she moved to the Air National Guard Readiness Center at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, where she currently serves as the Chief of Force Management Division. In this position, she is responsible for leading all five branches of the military in developing personnel policy for 106,000 military personnel throughout the United States and its territories overseas.
